In a ceremony held at the Greek School in Stockholm on Saturday, October 19, 2024, Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and All Scandinavia performed the sanctification rite for the new school year in the presence of students, parents, and teachers. Archimandrite Bartholomew Iatridis, the priest of St. George’s Cathedral in Stockholm, was also in attendance.
Following the service, Metropolitan Cleopas blessed all the students, parents, and teachers, while Fr. Bartholomew presented each student with an icon of Saint Nicholas and gifted the teachers the 2025 calendar of the Metropolis.
During his address to the students, the Archbishop discussed the significance of Saint Gerasimos of Kefalonia and emphasized the importance of regular church attendance. He also presented the President of the school, Dimitrios Siotis, with a study he recently published on the late Hieromonk Eusebius Vittis, titled “The Missionary Ministry of Archimandrite Eusebius Vittis in Scandinavia 1965-1980.”
Following the ceremony, a small reception was held on the school premises where Metropolitan Cleopas interacted with parents and school administrators, offering them his best wishes for success and divine guidance.
The Greek School of Stockholm, which accommodates over 400 students and offers Greek language courses in various suburbs, shares its location with the Swedish Day School.
