Over the weekend, Metropolitan Serafim of Germany’s Romanian Metropolitan welcomed Metropolitan Theoklitos of Stagoi and Meteora, along with a delegation of Greek monks, at the archdiocesan center in Nuremberg.
During the visit, Metropolitan Theoklitos brought the left hand of St. John Chrysostom, a precious relic from the Monastery of St Varlaam at Meteora, for veneration.
Metropolitan Theoklitos commended the missionary work of the Romanian Metropolis and participated in various liturgical and catechetical activities. Children from the “Emmaus” parish school also joined in the Divine Liturgy and took part in educational and recreational programs.
Following the service, Metropolitan Serafim provided an overview of the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Germany, Austria, and Luxembourg.
As a gesture of goodwill, Metropolitan Theoklitos presented an icon of the Mother of God “Panagia Mesitria.” Attendees were given the opportunity to venerate the relic of St. John Chrysostom at the conclusion of the event.
The Greek delegation was invited to Nuremberg by the Greek parish of “Holy Apostles” and the city of Schwabach, which is twinned with Kalambaka, the nearest urban area to the Meteora Monasteries.
