Metropolitan Meliton of Philadelphia, representing the Ecumenical Patriarchate, is currently in Tirana, where on Thursday, February 27, he led a memorial service at the grave of the late Archbishop Anastasios. The service, marked by deep emotion, was attended by Metropolitan Nathaniel of Amantia and clergy of the Archdiocese of Albania.
Earlier in the day, Metropolitan Meliton presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Resurrection Cathedral in Tirana, where on Saturday, March 1, the forty-day memorial service for the late Archbishop Anastasios will be held.
In the coming period, the election of the new Archbishop of Albania, who will succeed Archbishop Anastasios, is expected to take place.
