Metropolitan Nikodemus of Nigeria traveled to Abuja, the Capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. He was invited by the Greek Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Athanasios Kotsionis, and his wife, Mrs. Ioanna Dimitriou, to attend the official reception hosted by the Greek Embassy in honor of the Feast of the Annunciation of the Theotokos and the commencement of the Greek War of Independence of 1821.
The event was well-attended by representatives of the Greek community, diplomatic corps, officials of the Nigerian government, as well as distinguished personalities from the fields of business and culture.
Metropolitan Nikodemus conveyed the Patriarchal wishes and blessings of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Theodoros II, to the Ambassador. He also expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation received. The Metropolitan had previously worked with Mr. Ambassador during his tenure as Consul General of Greece in Alexandria, Egypt, which strengthened the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two regions.
