On June 20, 2024, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine met with the Ambassador of France to Ukraine, Gael Veseyer, at his residence.
During the meeting, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine discussed the historical significance of St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery, emphasizing its role in both the Church and the state. He also highlighted its current importance as a place of remembrance for the fallen defenders of Ukraine.
The conversation also touched upon topics such as the state’s support in countering the Russian attack, the social and religious landscape in Ukraine, the Church’s role in society, the service of chaplains in the army, and the aggressor’s attempts to manipulate the Church for its own aggressive purposes.
Metropolitan Epifaniy expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador for France’s support during this challenging time of war, stating, “We are immensely grateful for the solidarity and assistance offered by the French Republic. This support is invaluable to us and strengthens our resolve to persevere in the face of adversity. We also appreciate President Emmanuel Macron’s significant proposals to aid Ukraine.”
