On October 20, 2024, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine visited the city of Ostroh to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the revival of the educational program at the National University of Ostroh Academy.
On the seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost, the Primate led the Divine Liturgy in the academic Church of St. Fedir Ostrozkyi. He was joined by Metropolitan Hilarion of Rivne and Ostroh, Archbishop Onufriy of Kitsman, Archbishop Pavlo of Khmelnytskyi and Shepetivskyi, Bishop Paisiy of Zhytomyr and Ovrutskyi, Archpriest Vasyl Zhukovsky, and local clergy.
The service was attended by Rivne Oblast head Oleksandr Koval, Ukrainian defenders, and numerous faithful. After reading the Gospel, His Beatitude delivered a sermon and offered a special prayer for Ukraine during this time of peril.
Prayers were also offered for the soldiers defending Ukraine, the government, and the Ukrainian people, as well as for the repose of the souls of fallen defenders and civilians.
At the conclusion of the service, Metropolitan Epifaniy awarded those central to the revival of the National University of Ostroh Academy, recognizing their contributions to Ukrainian education.
The solemn service concluded with the perennial prayers and the singing of Ukraine’s spiritual anthem, “God, Great, One.” Following the service, Metropolitan Epifaniy was given a tour of the university.

The Metropolitan met with the rector and students of Ostroh Academy National University, where they discussed modern challenges, the importance of unity, resistance to evil, and the vital role of Ukrainian youth in building an independent Ukraine.
The Primate also responded to questions from the university’s teachers and students.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Rector of Ostroh Academy National University, Professor Ihor Pasichnyk, expressed his gratitude to Metropolitan Epifaniy for engaging with Ukrainian youth and presented him with the Prince Vasyl-Kostyantin Ostrohsky Medal.
