On July 25, 2024, the annual All-Ukrainian pilgrimage of the families of heroes who fell in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict took place in the village of Lishnya, Kremenets district, Ternopil region. Defenders of Ukraine, believers, and relatives of fallen soldiers from across the nation gathered for a joint prayer.
Metropolitan Epiphany of Kyiv and All Ukraine celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Church of Saint Righteous Anna. Following the reading of the Gospel, the Metropolitan of the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine delivered a heartfelt sermon.
Prayers were offered for the soldiers defending Ukraine, for the authorities and the Ukrainian people, and for the peace of souls of all the fallen defenders of Ukraine and the dead civilians. Metropolitan Epiphany also offered a special prayer to the Lord, wishing peace prevailed.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, he bestowed high church awards on the families of the newest heroes. Following this, the Metropolitan led the funeral service for the fallen Ukrainian soldiers and killed civilians.
Concluding his First Hierarchical visit, Metropolitan Epiphany consecrated the site for constructing the All-Ukrainian Memorial “Remember the Living,” in honor of the heroic soldiers who lost their lives in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
