Metropolitan of Polyana and Kilkis, along with 40 pilgrims from the Metropolis, were warmly received by Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa in the Throne Room of the ancient Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria on Thursday, February 6, 2025. The meeting was part of their pilgrimage to the sacred land of the second-ranking Patriarchate.
Patriarch Theodore praised the Metropolis of Kilkis for its contributions to the missionary work of the Patriarchate, particularly in the Metropolis of Kampala, Uganda. He highlighted the recent inauguration of a new school there during Metropolitan Kilkis’ visit, a project undertaken as part of their ongoing missionary efforts.
The Patriarch commended the pilgrims for embracing the missionary spirit of their Metropolis and living joyfully in the Christian faith.
In response, Metropolitan Kilkis expressed gratitude for the honor bestowed upon him by the Patriarch and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing the sacred missionary work of his predecessors in the African mission.
Following the meeting, the group was guided through the newly renovated areas of the Patriarchate by Archimandrite Damaskinos and received a special blessing from the Patriarch.
The pilgrimage continued with visits to the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Sabbas, the Library of Alexandria, and the Museum dedicated to the life and works of poet Constantine Cavafy.
