The Sunday of Orthodoxy is a significant feast in the Orthodox Church, commemorating the victory of Orthodoxy over iconoclasm and the reinstatement of the veneration of holy icons.
Every year, this day is celebrated with splendor at the Ecumenical Patriarchate, with high-ranking clergy and distinguished guests, highlighting the importance of the Orthodox faith and tradition.
This year, the celebrations will be held with special solemnity at the Patriarchal Church in the Phanar. Metropolitan Epiphaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine will lead the Great Vespers service on Saturday, March 8, followed by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew bestowing the title of Archon Offikialios of the Great Church of Christ upon Spyridon Divanis from Athens.
On Sunday, March 9, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and Metropolitan Epiphanius will preside over the Patriarchal and Synodal Divine Liturgy. The service will conclude with the customary Trisagion for those who defended the Orthodox faith, followed by a procession of holy icons symbolizing the resilience of Orthodoxy.
