On Sunday, December 8, 2024, a Divine Liturgy took place at the Sacred Church of St. George in the Makrochori Community, with Metropolitan Elder Apostolos of Derkoi leading the service.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a Trisagion service was conducted in honor of the esteemed archaeologist Theodoros Makridis, a native of Makrochori, Constantinople, whose final resting place is at the Cemetery Church of the Holy Ascension of Christ in Makrochori.
The Byzantine Choir “Byzantine Analogio of Kalamaria” participated in the service and later performed Christmas carols to mark the upcoming holiday season.
Before the conclusion of the service, the Metropolitan announced plans for a memorial service in the new year dedicated to the renowned archaeologist in the Makrochori Community, where scholars will gather to discuss his remarkable work and contributions.
