The Church honors Hieromartyr Zenobius, Bishop of Aegae in Cilicia, and his sister Zenobia, who fearlessly preached the truth of Christ and faced torture when they were arrested by the idolatrous governor Licius. The saints were martyred by beheading.
Every October, the Church of Cyprus commemorates three saints named Therapon. The first saint traveled from Palestine to Cyprus during the iconoclast period and was martyred for Jesus Christ, with his memory celebrated on October 14.
The second saint was an ascetic near the Sinta community and is highly revered in Angastina, Mesaoria, also remembered on the same day. The third saint, honored today, was one of the three hundred ascetics who fled from various countries to Cyprus during the persecutions against Christians.
Saint Therapon settled in Lythrodontas village, living in a cave with fasting and prayer until his passing. His relic, discovered centuries later, became a source of healing for the faithful, earning him the title “Wonderworker.”
The sacred relics of saints, including Saint Therapon, often appear many years or even centuries after their deaths, emphasizing that holiness is a divine work guided by the Holy Spirit, beyond human motives and conceptions.
