The Church honors the memory of Hieromartyr Alexander of Jerusalem, New Martyr Nicholas of Metsovo, and Venerable Theodore the Sanctified. Venerable Theodore lived during the reign of idolatrous Emperor Julian the Apostate.
Originally from Egypt, Venerable Theodore dedicated his life to the study and preaching of God’s word. Despite his noble background, he chose to embrace an ascetic lifestyle.
Following the monastic path, Venerable Theodore excelled in virtue and was greatly influenced by his spiritual father, the renowned hermit Saint Pachomius.
Recognizing his spiritual dedication, Saint Pachomius appointed Venerable Theodore as the treasurer of the monastery and entrusted him with pastoral duties at the young age of 34. Eventually, he was elected as the abbot due to his righteousness and leadership skills.
Venerable Theodore remained faithful to Jesus Christ until his passing in AD 368, with his virtuous life being praised by Great Father Athanasios, Archbishop of Alexandria, in his writings.
