The Church celebrates the memory of the martyrs Marcian and Martyrius, as well as Saint Tabitha, a biblical figure.
Saint Tabitha, also known as Dorcas in Greek, lived in Joppa (Jaffa) and was known for her good works and acts of charity. She was praised for her hospitality and kindness by all who knew her. When she fell ill and passed away, the entire Christian community was deeply saddened.
According to the book of Acts, Saint Peter the Apostle was summoned to her side while preparations were being made for her funeral. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, he raised Tabitha from the dead, and she continued to live a righteous life, serving God and her neighbors for many years.
