The Church honors Saint Artemius the Great Martyr, who lived during the reign of Emperor Constantine the Great, Saint Gerasimus of Kefalonia, and Venerable Matrona of Chios the Wonderworker.
During the time of Emperor Julian the Apostate and the onset of severe persecutions against Christians, Saint Artemius boldly confessed his faith to the king and even admonished him for disrespecting the Holy Gospel. As a result, Saint Artemius endured brutal torture and ultimately faced martyrdom by the sword.
Through his intercession and numerous miraculous signs, the Great Martyr Artemius serves as an inspiring example. His unwavering dedication to Christ prevailed over worldly possessions, fame, familial ties, and even the preservation of his own life.
