The Church celebrates the Apostle Philip and Venerable Theophanes Graptus
Saint Philip, originally from Caesarea of Palestine, was one of the seven deacons of the First Church of Jerusalem. He played a significant role in spreading the Holy Gospel, baptizing individuals such as Simon the Sorcerer and the Ethiopian eunuch of Queen Kandake.
His teachings in Tralleis led to the conversion of many inhabitants to Christianity. He established a Christian community in the city, built a temple, and organized the believers before his passing.
The Apostles, including Deacon Philip, were instrumental in establishing local Churches, ordaining bishops and presbyters, and fulfilling Christ’s command to spread the Gospel to all nations.
