Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria met with the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Bulgaria, Alexios Liberopoulos, today.
Also present at the meeting were Bishop Gerasimos of Melnik, General Secretary of the Holy Synod, Dr. Maria Kioseva, Legal Advisor to the Holy Synod, and Dr. Alexandros Smocevski, Advisor on Canonical Legal Matters to the Metropolitan of Sofia and the Patriarch of Bulgaria.
The discussions during the meeting focused on the positive relations between Bulgaria and Greece, as well as the collaboration in tourism and travel between the two countries. Patriarch Daniel emphasized the unity between the two nations through shared faith and expressed gratitude for the strengthening of bonds between their Orthodox Churches and peoples.
Ambassador Alexios Liberopoulos highlighted the significant number of Greeks visiting Bulgaria and Bulgarians visiting Greece, reflecting the strong ties between the countries and Churches.
Both sides acknowledged the ongoing conflicts and divisions in the world, emphasizing the importance of the Church in promoting peace. The meeting concluded with well-wishes for the future and an exchange of gifts, including commemorative coins and books.
