On January 9, 2025, Metropolitan Sevastianos of Atlanta was received by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Members of the Holy and Sacred Synod at the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the Lesser (Micro) Minima. This event followed the Epiphany celebrations in Tarpon Springs, FL on January 6, where Archbishop Elpidophoros of America and Metropolitan Sevastianos were present.
During the Lesser Minima, Metropolitan Sevastianos accepted his election and expressed his joy and gratitude to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Synod. His remarks in Greek and English can be found below.
Following the Lesser Minima, the Mega (Greater) Minima took place in the presence of the Synod, the Patriarchal Court, Archbishop Elpidophoros, clergymen, lay leaders, and the official announcement of the election.
The Enthronement Service for Metropolitan Sevastianos will be held on January 25, 2025, at the Annunciation Cathedral in Atlanta.
The Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate elected Bishop Sevastianos of Zela as the new Metropolitan of Atlanta on December 2, 2024.
