On January 9, 2025, Metropolitan Sevastianos of Atlanta was received at the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the Lesser (Micro) Minima by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Members of the Holy and Sacred Synod. Archbishop Elpidophoros of America was also present, having arrived directly from Tarpon Springs, FL where a large Epiphany celebration took place on January 6.
During the Lesser Minima, Metropolitan Sevastianos accepted his election and expressed his gratitude to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the Synod. The official election was announced during the subsequent Mega (Greater) Minima in the presence of the Synod, the Patriarchal Court, Archbishop Elpidophoros, clergymen, and lay leaders.
The Enthronement Service for Metropolitan Sevastianos will be held on January 25, 2025 at the Annunciation Cathedral in Atlanta.
The Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate elected Bishop Sevastianos of Zela as the new Metropolitan of Atlanta on December 2, 2024.
