In response to the recent failed coup attempt in South Korea, the Orthodox Metropolis of Korea organized a special prayer service to seek divine protection and peace for the nation. Metropolitan Ambrosios expressed gratitude for the restoration of democracy without any violence and prayed for continued stability and national unity.
During the prayer, the Metropolitan offered the following words:
“Merciful Lord,
We express our heartfelt thanks for safeguarding our country from the grave danger that recently threatened its freedom and peace.
We are thankful, Lord, that through Your intervention, democratic governance was swiftly reinstated in our land without any bloodshed, sparing us from the hardships and tragic outcomes of a totalitarian rule.
We implore Your divine guidance, Lord, to help us defend our nation with wisdom and responsibility against any attempts to violate the rights of our people through violence.
We also beseech You, Lord, to assist us in peacefully navigating the political challenges arising from recent events. Grant wisdom to our leaders so they may govern with humility, selfless love, freedom, justice, and equality, all for the glory of Your holy Name, both now and forever. Amen.”
The prayer service served as a spiritual call for reconciliation and wisdom, emphasizing the significance of justice and humility in governance during this critical period for South Korea.
