The 4th International Conference of the Archons of the Ecumenical Throne on the Protection of Religious Freedom, Democracy, and Human Rights kicks off today in Athens and will run until May 28. Simultaneously, the first International Conference of the Archons will also be held.
The conference, endorsed by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, will feature renowned speakers such as Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Dr. Despina Hadjivassiliou-Tsovilis (Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe), and Archbishop Gintaras Grušas of Vilnius (President of the Council of Bishops’ Conferences of Europe – CCEE).
Other notable figures in attendance include Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, Mayor of Athens Haris Doukas, Archon Exarch Athanasios Martinos, Archon Aktouarios Dr. Anthony J. Lyberakis, John Catsimatidis (Greek-American businessman), and more.
Following the Conference, Lyberakis will host the inaugural International Archons Conference to devise strategies to protect the Ecumenical Patriarchate and establish a platform for coordinating Archons’ efforts in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Australia.
The venues for the meetings will include the Stoa of Attalos, the Old Parliament House, and the Zappeion Mansion. The official language of the conference is English.
