Mr. Soltész Miklós, Hungary’s Secretary of State for Churches, Minorities, and Civil Affairs, was welcomed by Patriarchal Auxiliary Bishop Varlaam of Ploiești at the Patriarchal Palace on July 19.
Following a tour of the Patriarchal Cathedral and Palace, the Hungarian delegation gathered at Saint Nicetas of Remesiana Salon at the Patriarchal Palace for discussions on mutual interests.
Also present at the meeting were Mr. Botond Zákonyi, Ambassador of Hungary to Bucharest, Mr. Ciprian-Vasile Olinici, Secretary of State for Religious Affairs from Romania, and Father Valentin Fătu, Patriarchal Counselor.
After the meeting, Mr. Soltész Miklós spoke to reporters from the Basilica Media Centre of the Romanian Patriarchate, highlighting the importance of involving religious communities in social and educational initiatives.
He expressed his invitation for Patriarch Daniel of Romania to visit Budapest, aiming to strengthen ties with the Romanian ethnic community in Hungary.
The Hungarian Secretary of State emphasized the potential for collaboration between religious communities to enhance social missions and historical reconciliation efforts.

Mr. Soltész Miklós also met with Ciprian-Vasile Olinici, the Secretary of State for Religious Affairs from Romania, during his visit to Bucharest.
