The Commencement of the Holy Synaxis of the Hierarchy of the Ecumenical Throne took place in Constantinople, Turkey on September 1, 2024. Hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne gathered at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, enjoying the company of fellow clergy, reconnecting with old friends, and engaging in meaningful conversations.
This morning featured the Divine Liturgy of the Feast of the New Indiction and the presence of U.S. Metropolitans.
The Holy Synaxis of the Hierarchy was officially opened with a service led by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Grand Ecclesiarch Aetios, Grand Syncellus Iakovos (Krochak), and Patriarchal Deacons Barnabas Grigoriadis and Evlogios Tsatsas.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew delivered an introductory speech that was well-received by the attending Hierarchs, followed by a response from Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon.
The Synaxis of Hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne, scheduled from September 1-3, will feature presentations on various topics important to the global Eastern Orthodox Church, such as inter-Orthodox and inter-Christian relations, canonical and liturgical issues, and the church’s stance on geopolitical matters.
