Doron Almog, founder of a Negev rehabilitation center, recounts a touching story about Michael Gottesman, a member of the emergency security team in the town of Shlomit near the Gaza Strip. Michael was wounded in combat with terrorist forces but found hope and healing at the ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran rehabilitation village.
Michael’s journey of recovery and resilience serves as a beacon of inspiration. Despite his injury, he was able to regain functionality in his hand and perform simple tasks once again. His triumphant moment of raising a glass and reciting a blessing symbolizes his strength and determination.
We wish Michael and all those undergoing rehabilitation a speedy and complete recovery. Their stories of courage and perseverance shine a light on the everyday heroism in Israel’s clinics.
To See the Light in the Midst of the Darkness
Last Shabbat, I had the privilege of meeting 150 Chabad shluchos from university campuses worldwide who gathered in Israel for their annual conference. Despite facing challenges and antisemitism on their campuses, these dedicated women remain steadfast in their Jewish and pro-Israel advocacy.
One shlucha shared a powerful perspective from a hostile college campus in the U.S., where adversity only strengthens their resolve: “We have seen with our own eyes, how the darkness increases the light.”
As these shluchos gather at the Kotel for spiritual renewal before the academic year begins, their unwavering dedication is a testament to the enduring strength of the Jewish people.
