Hamas launched three rockets from the Gaza Strip towards the Tel Aviv area, marking the first missile attack on Israel in almost six months and signaling a resumption of hostilities between Israel and Hamas.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the rocket fire, as one was intercepted by Israel’s missile defense system while the other two landed in unpopulated areas.
These rocket attacks followed Israel’s decision to end the ceasefire with Hamas and conduct airstrikes targeting the group’s leaders in Gaza. Additionally, a rocket launched by the Houthi group in Yemen triggered alarm sirens in central Israel, causing disruptions at the Knesset.
Israel also reinitiated ground operations in Gaza by retaking parts of the Netzarim corridor, a strategic area dividing the southern and northern regions of the territory.
Earlier on Wednesday, protests erupted in Jerusalem over the resumption of hostilities, with demonstrators expressing concerns for the 59 hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu cited Hamas’ refusal to release the hostages as a reason for the renewed conflict.
