The Greek community in Bucharest honored its ancestors on Sunday at the Greek Church in celebration of Greece’s National Day.
During the Divine Liturgy, the Greek Revolution heroes of 1821 were remembered, symbolizing the Greek people’s liberation from the Ottoman Empire.
The commemorative event was attended by Her Excellency Lili-Evangelia Grammatika, Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Romania, as well as other dignitaries from the Greek Embassy in Romania.
Also present were MP Dragoș Gabriel Zisopol, President of the Hellenic Union of Romania, Greek businesspeople, and members of the Bucharest Branch of the Hellenic Union of Romania.
After the Divine Liturgy, a Doxology was officiated by Fr. Ioan Moldoveanu, followed by a speech from Her Excellency Lili-Evangelia Grammatika on the importance of Greece’s National Day.
The event concluded with a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument of national hero Rigas Feraios Velestinlis in the church courtyard.
The Embassy in Bucharest also hosted an “Open Doors” event to celebrate Greece’s National Day.
