The recent visit to Canada by Gerontissa Theoxeni and Sr. Theolekti from the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of Chrysopigi in Crete has brought numerous spiritual blessings to the faithful.
With the approval of Archbishop Sotirios, Gerontissa Theoxeni visited several parishes in the Greater Toronto Area to engage with the faithful and offer them spiritual guidance during the sacred period of Holy and Great Lent.
One of the highlights of the visit was a spiritual gathering for youth and young adults at the Archdiocese Cathedral on March 13, 2025, followed by a visit to the Metamorphosis Church in Toronto for the Second Salutations to the Theotokos. During this event, Gerontissa Theoxeni spoke about the significance of the Most-Holy Theotokos and distributed icons of the Mother of God of the Life-Giving Font to the attendees.
The following day, Gerontissa Theoxeni and Sr. Theolekti visited the St. Nicholas Greek School, where they shared valuable insights on living a Christ-centered life with the students. The interaction was enriching and left a profound impact on all present.
On Saturday evening, Gerontissa Theoxeni delivered a powerful homily at the St. Nicholas Cathedral on the theme of living a Christian life in today’s society. The event was attended by hundreds of faithful from the Greater Toronto Area, including Archbishop Sotirios and Bishop Athenagoras.
The visit also included attending the Divine Liturgy at the St. Nicholas Cathedral on the Sunday of St. Gregory Palamas, as well as a visit to the St. Kosmas Aitolos Monastery in Bolton to celebrate the feast day of St. Alexios the Man of God.
Additionally, Gerontissa Theoxeni and Sr. Theolekti visited the Metamorphosis Greek Orthodox School of the Archdiocese to interact with the students, distribute icons, and engage in meaningful discussions during Holy and Great Lent.
The visit concluded with an evening Presanctified Divine Liturgy at the Prophet Elias Church in Mississauga, where the parishioners were encouraged to reflect on the significance of the Lenten season and the importance of sacrifice.
