On December 17, 2024, the Feast of St. Barbara, the Georgian Patriarchate hosted a distinguished delegation including Robin Wagener, Member of the German Bundestag and Coordinator for the South Caucasus of Germany’s Federal Foreign Office, Peter Fischer, German Ambassador to Georgia, and their accompanying delegation.
The guests were welcomed by Protopresbyter George Zviadadze, Rector of the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, along with deputy heads of the Patriarchate’s Department of External Relations, Archpriest Archil Khachidze and Igumen Michael (Bregvadze), and Archpriest David Tatanashvili.
Discussions during the meeting focused on current developments in Georgia. Protopresbyter George presented the visitors with the December 13th address of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, emphasizing the Church’s support for Georgia’s European integration process while upholding traditional and spiritual-cultural values.
Robin Wagener expressed his concern over the current challenges facing Georgia and conveyed his hope that the country’s path toward closer relations with the European Union would continue.
