Over the weekend, Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia welcomed Prof. Dr. Emil Constantinescu, former President of Romania, to the metropolitan residence in Chișinău.
The discussion encompassed various topics, from Romanian history and culture to the challenges and opportunities facing the Romanian Orthodox Church in Bessarabia.
Metropolitan Petru expressed his appreciation to President Constantinescu for his dedication to promoting Romanian culture and spirituality on a global scale.
President Emil Constantinescu recognized the significant role of the Metropolis of Bessarabia in preserving the national and spiritual identity of Romanians in the Republic of Moldova.
Prof. Dr. Emil Constantinescu remarked, “It is a privilege to engage in dialogue with His Eminence Metropolitan Petru about our shared heritage and how we can collaborate to uphold our common values.”
Metropolitan Petru conveyed his thanks for President Emil Constantinescu’s support in advancing shared values, aiming to cultivate a brighter future for the spiritual and cultural community as a whole.
Currently serving as the president of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization, Former President Emil Constantinescu, originally from Bessarabia, was visiting the region for several days.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of both parties’ commitment to enhancing cooperation and fostering peace and unity among Romanian communities on both sides of the Prut River.
