The health condition of Archbishop Anastasios of Albania remains critical, as reported by Ta Nea, 19 days after his admission to Evangelismos Hospital in Athens.
The 95-year-old Archbishop is currently intubated and being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital. Despite the continuous efforts of the attending physicians to gradually wake him up, this goal has not yet been achieved.
Nine days after undergoing surgery to address bleeding in the lower digestive tract, the Archbishop’s condition shows no significant improvement. The treating doctors are working tirelessly, but the situation remains extremely concerning.
Each passing hour without a positive development further underscores the critical nature of his health.
Airlifted from Tirana
On January 3, Archbishop Anastasios of Albania was airlifted from a hospital in Tirana after suffering from digestive system bleeding while already being treated for a respiratory infection.
His condition is further complicated by his medical history and advanced age. He remains under close observation by the hospital’s medical team, undergoing necessary medical examinations and receiving appropriate care.
