Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Holy Archdiocese of Constantinople in Pera on Thursday, November 21, 2024, in celebration of the Feast of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple.
Joining the Patriarch in the Divine Liturgy were various bishops and clergy, including Elder Apostolos of Derkoi, Joseph of Western and Southern Europe of the Patriarchate of Romania, Athenagoras of Belgium, Antonios of Western and Southern Europe of the Patriarchate of Bulgaria, and others. Metropolitan Plato of Langada, Liti, and Rentini delivered the homily during the service.
Metropolitans and bishops from different regions, as well as dignitaries and members of the clergy, were in attendance. During the service, Deacon Ieronymos Sotirelis was ordained to the rank of Presbyter by Patriarch Bartholomew, who emphasized the importance of the priesthood and Fr. Ieronymos’s dedication to his ministry at the Phanar.
After the Dismissal, the Patriarch addressed the Hierarchs of the Committee of Representatives of the Orthodox Churches to the European Union, highlighting the need for collaboration in the face of current challenges in Europe. Earlier, Metropolitan Andreas of Forty Churches had also met with the Patriarch.
