On November 23, 2024, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was guided on a tour by Metropolitan Gabriel of Nea Ionia.
The tour, which took place in the presence of several dignitaries, including the Greek Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, former Regional Governor of Attica, Giorgos Patoulis, and Athanasios Martinos, Archon Exarch of the Holy Great Church of Christ, highlighted key developments in the region.
During the tour, the Ecumenical Patriarch visited the construction site of the new Center of the Metropolis of Nea Ionia. A particularly moving moment occurred when the Ecumenical Patriarch was led inside the under-construction church of St. George of Neapolis, where the Hierarchs chanted in his honor.
A reception followed at the Ionic Center, where guests gathered to continue the celebration.
Ecumenical Patriarch’s visit to the Metochion of the Holy Athonite Fathers in Nea Ionia
This morning, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited the metochion of the Holy Athonite Fathers of the Xenophontos Monastery of Mount Athos in Nea Ionia.
The Ecumenical Patriarch was welcomed at the entrance of the metochion by Metropolitan Gabriel of Nea Ionia and the Political Administrator of Mount Athos, Alkiviadis Stephanis.
The Ecumenical Patriarch has been in Athens since yesterday to participate in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Metropolis of Nea Ionia.
