The Feast of Exaltation of the Precious Cross was celebrated with solemnity in the Sacred Center of Orthodoxy. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew led the Divine Liturgy on September 14, 2024, accompanied by several Metropolitans. Following the liturgy, the Patriarch distributed flowers and basil to clergy, Archons, and attendees, as is tradition.
The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Bishop Ambrosios of Evdokiada and members of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO). The Patriarch also presided over Great Vespers at the Church of St. Nicholas in Topkapi.
During the event, the Patriarch condemned a recent act of sacrilege in Switzerland, where an icon of the Virgin Mary was shot at. He emphasized the importance of the cross in Christian life and denounced the misuse of religious symbols in the name of freedom.
In conclusion, the Patriarch expressed gratitude to Metropolitan Maximos of Selyvria for his leadership and dedication, as well as to all those who uphold the traditions of the Great Church of Christ. Konstantinos, along with all the members of the Ecclesiastical Committee, are commended for their dedication and hard work in the Community.
