On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew held a meeting with Ruslan Abashidze, the head of the government-in-exile of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.
During their discussion, they covered various current issues. The Ecumenical Patriarch emphasized the peace initiatives and efforts of the Mother Church, both locally and globally.
The meeting was attended by Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon from the Patriarchate. Abashidze was accompanied by his wife Tamar Chkheidze, the Consul General of Georgia in Constantinople Aleksandre Jishkariani, and the Minister of Justice of Abkhazia Giorgi Gabedava, along with other members of his team.
