Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received a warm welcome during a brief stopover in Singapore. Metropolitan Konstantinos of Singapore, Ambassador of Greece Georgios Dogoritis, and Ayse Korkmaz, Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Mission of the Republic of Turkey, greeted him. The local Orthodox community on the island of Sentosa greeted the Patriarch with traditional customs, offering flowers and chanting hymns.
Despite the early hour of his arrival, Patriarch Bartholomew expressed gratitude to the faithful who stayed awake to welcome him. After blessing the community, he had meetings with Turkish Ambassador Mehmet Burçin Gönenli and Greek Ambassador Georgios Dogoritis at the hotel.
In the mid-morning, the Patriarch and his entourage departed for Sydney to continue his journey for an upcoming official visit.
