On Sunday, September 1, 2024, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Church of Saint George in celebration of the Feast of Indiction. The service was attended by Hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne from around the world, who concelebrated with the Patriarch.
After offering a blessing over the upcoming year, His All-Holiness signed the Act of the New Indiction, officially signifying the beginning of the Ecclesiastical New Year, along with all the hierarchs of the Throne
After signing the Act of the New Indiction, the Hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne proceeded to the nearby, recently-renovated Patriarchal Maraslion School for its official inauguration ceremony.
As benefactors of the restoration, Archons George Marcus and Peter Palivos were honored, and hierarchs were offered a tour of the building, which will house various ministries of the Mother Church.
Today’s celebration of the Feast of the New Indiction coincides with the triennial Synaxis of Hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne, taking place from September 1-3 and commencing tonight with the Inaugural Service of the Holy Synaxis.
