Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew expressed his love for the Romanian community under his jurisdiction and the entire Romanian Orthodox Church during the patronal feast of St. Paraskevi Church in Constantinople last Friday.
He also announced his anticipation for the events in Bucharest dedicated to the Centennial of the Romanian Patriarchate.
The Ecumenical Patriarch stated, “We love our daughter Church of Romania and eagerly anticipate participating in the official celebrations in Bucharest next year for the centennial of the elevation of the Autocephalous Church of Romania to the Patriarchal dignity by the Ecumenical Patriarchate.”
He further honored His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel and expressed a desire for the relations between the two Churches to be guided by truth, love, and canonical tradition.
During the patronal feast of St. Paraskevi Church in Constantinople, founded by Saint Constantine Brancoveanu, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was in attendance.
Since 2004, the Saint Paraskevi Church in the Hasköy district has been the place of worship for the Romanian Orthodox community in Turkey.
The Romanian State has declared 2025 as the Centennial Year of the Romanian Patriarchate, with plans for various festive events, including the proclamation of saints canonized by the Romanian Orthodox Church and the consecration of the National Cathedral.
There is also a possibility of proclaiming the sainthood of other Romanian monks who lived on Mount Athos, pending approval by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
