Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited the newly built Church of the new Saint of Our Church, Ethno-Hieromartyr Ananias Lampardis, Metropolitan of Lacedaemonia, near the Administration Centre of the Regional Unit of Laconia on Tuesday, 26 November 2024.
During the visit, the sacred Oil Lamp lighting ceremony took place, with hymns beautifully performed by the choir of the Byzantine Music School “Petros the Lacedaemonian” of the Holy Metropolis of Monemvasia and Sparta, under the direction of Mr. Panagiotis Chronis.
Metropolitan Efstathios expressed gratitude to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for canonizing Ethno-Hieromartyr Ananias, bringing joy to the clergy and people of the Holy Metropolis. The Patriarch, in response, celebrated the new Saint and the construction of the Holy Church, wishing blessings upon the clergy and people.
Students from Geraki, who had visited the Patriarch at the Phanar, surprised him with symbolic gifts during the visit. A marble plaque was also unveiled in the courtyard to commemorate the historic event.
The arrival of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the newly constructed Holy Church culminated in the symbolic act of planting an olive tree sapling.
