Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, along with his group, paid a visit to Turin on Friday, July 5, as part of his recent tour of Italy.
During the visit, they explored the Cappella della Sacra Sindone, the Royal Palace, and the Museum of the Holy Shroud. Following this, the Ecumenical Patriarch stopped by the Greek Orthodox Parish of Turin where he was warmly received by Father Joseph, parishioners, and the Honorary Consul General of Greece, Phivos Valachis. The church choir of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist also welcomed him with honors.
A special luncheon was organized in honor of the Ecumenical Patriarch by Metropolitan Polykarpos of Italy.
Prior to this, on Thursday, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited Milan and the Diocese of Ivrea at the invitation of Bishop Aldo Cerrato of Edoardo. He participated in religious events commemorating Hieromartyr Sabine, the Bishop and Protector of Ivrea.
The Patriarchal entourage included Metropolitan Polykarpos of Italy, Bishop Paisios of Xanthoupolis, Patriarchal Deacon Barnabas, Archimandrite Ioannis Batsis, Hierarchical Head of the Community of Milan, and Chrysovalantis Gulgun, one of the Secretaries of the Patriarchate.
