During his visit to Preveza, Greece, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew delved into the city’s historical and natural treasures. Accompanied by Metropolitan Chrysostomos and Mayor Nikos Georgakos, his itinerary included visits to the Archaeological Museum of Nikopolis and the Christian museums, where he was guided by Anthi Angeli, the head of the Ephorate of Antiquities.
The Patriarch admired the religious landmarks and the conservation efforts in the area, highlighting Nicopolis’ rich historical significance.
His next destination was the Monastery of Prophet Elijah in Flamboura, where he received a warm welcome from monks and followers. Known for his environmental advocacy, he also visited the Center for Environmental Interpretation of the Natural Environment & Climate Change Agency, learning about ecosystem protection initiatives from Kostas Triantis.
The two-day visit culminated in the inauguration of the Apostle Paul Shrine in Lithari, followed by a festive vespers celebration in honor of Apostles Peter and Paul. This experience was spiritually meaningful for both the Ecumenical Patriarch and the local community.
