Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received an honorary doctorate of Theology at a special ceremony held at the Catholic Cathedral of the Holy Mary in Sydney on Monday, October 7, 2024. The honor was bestowed by the Roman Catholic University of Notre Dame.
The ceremony included speeches from the University’s Rector, Christopher Ellison, and President, Professor Constantine Michael, who both expressed their admiration and respect for the Patriarch.
In his acceptance speech, Patriarch Bartholomew emphasized the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s dedication to dialogue as a key tool for resolving differences, fostering reconciliation, and promoting peace on a global scale.
The event concluded with Archbishop Makarios offering his best wishes, praying for strength and good health for the Ecumenical Patriarch to continue his important work.
