Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew participated in the Divine Liturgy on Saturday, January 11, 2025, presided over by Metropolitan Stephanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos. The service included a memorial for the late Leonidas Asteris, the former Protopsaltis of the Great Church of Christ.
Also in attendance were Archpriests Elder Demetrios of the Princes’ Islands, Sotirios of Canada, Eirinaios of Myriophyton and Peristasis, Chrysostomos of Myra, Paisios of Leros, Kalymnos and Astypalaia, Athenagoras of Kydonia, Maximos of Selyvria, Andreas of Saranta Ekklisies, Theodoros of Seleucia, Hadrian of Halicarnassus, members of the Patriarchal Court, friends of the deceased, and faithful from Constantinople.
Following the service, a memorial reception took place in the Throne Room, where the Ecumenical Patriarch shared heartfelt words about the late Leonidas Asteris, highlighting his dedicated service as Archon Protopsaltes of the Great Church of Christ.
