Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew arrived at Sofia Airport yesterday to attend the enthronement of the new Bulgarian Patriarch. He was greeted by Metropolitan Grigoriy of Vratsa, Vice-President of the Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church; Archimandrite Vasiliy, Protosyncellus of the Holy Metropolis of Sofia; the Ambassador of Greece to Bulgaria, Alexios Liberopoulos; and Mustafa Kara, Deputy Ambassador of Turkey to Bulgaria.
Patriarch Bartholomew was accompanied by Metropolitans and Bishops of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, who will also be present at the enthronement of the newly elected Bulgarian Patriarch at Saint Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
