A Divine Liturgy in Ukrainian was celebrated this morning at the Church of Saint Paraskevi in Peristeri, Greece.
This marks the first-ever Divine Liturgy in Ukrainian celebrated in Athens.
Following today’s service, Divine Liturgies in Ukrainian will be held more regularly in churches within the Metropolis of Peristeri, with the permission and blessing of Metropolitan Gregory of Peristeri.
The Divine Liturgy was officiated by Fr. Vasyl Lylo of the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
Fr. Vasilios has a close relationship with Metropolitan Epiphaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine and was part of the official delegation of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine to the Phanar when it received the Tomos of Autocephaly from Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
In attendance were members of the Ukrainian community in Athens, along with Volodymyr Liashenko, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Ukraine.
