Archbishop Anastasios of Albania is currently in critical condition, with his health deteriorating on Friday morning, as reported by Ethnos.gr.
He is experiencing multiple organ failure and is being intubated in the Intensive Care Unit at Evangelismos Hospital in Athens. Emergency surgery was performed on Friday, January 10, to address a hemorrhage in his lower digestive system, but his condition remains extremely serious.
A specialized medical team, led by Professor of Pulmonology and Intensive Care, Anastasia Kotanidou, is working tirelessly to stabilize and wake him up.
Archbishop Anastasios was initially hospitalized in Tirana on December 30 due to a seasonal flu. His deteriorating condition necessitated an airlift transfer to Athens on January 3. Since then, he has been under intensive medical care at Evangelismos Hospital.
