The Church of Albania has expressed deep concern about the ongoing events in Syria, particularly in Aleppo and the surrounding areas, highlighting the serious danger faced by Orthodox Christians in the region.
The statement stressed that the recent attacks are putting the lives of thousands of Orthodox Christians at risk and are threatening the historic presence of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch, as well as the broader Christian heritage in the Middle East.
“The devastating attacks in Aleppo and its surrounding areas are endangering the historic continuity of the Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and the Christian presence in the Middle East. Religious violence and the desecration of sacred places are deep wounds to Orthodoxy and a grave affront to human civilization.
Standing in solidarity with our persecuted brothers and sisters, we join our prayers with those seeking peace, and we urge the international community to take prompt and decisive action to stop the deadly attacks in this long-suffering region,” the statement concluded.
