December 5, 2023, marked a joyous occasion at the Patriarchal Monastery in Alexandria as the feast of Saint Savvas the Sanctified was commemorated. Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa presided over the Orthros and Divine Liturgy.
Concelebrating with the Patriarch were Metropolitans Panteleimon of Ptolemaida, Narcissus of Pelusium, and Germanos of Tamiatheus. Metropolitan Panteleimon delivered a stirring homily reflecting on the Gospel reading of the day and the life of Saint Savvas, providing spiritual inspiration to the congregation.
Patriarch Theodore II expressed gratitude for the Metropolitan’s words, emphasizing their relevance to the Church’s mission and pastoral efforts. He invoked Saint Savvas as a source of strength and blessing for believers facing challenges, also acknowledging the service of Metropolitans Narcissus and Germanos.
Following the Divine Liturgy, a prayer was offered for the repose of Parthenios III, the Patriarch’s predecessor and spiritual mentor. The day concluded with a festive reception at the monastery’s “Archontariki,” bringing together the community and pilgrims in celebration and fellowship.
