Sunday, 6th October, 2024 was a very joyous day for the Community of St Andrew in Edinburgh. Bishop Raphael of Ilion, assisted by the Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Antonios Kakalis, the Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne Luke Jeffery, the Protopresbyter John Nankivell, and the Presbyter Caius Gurgu, conducted the Service of Blessing of Waters and blessed the new Church the Community had just purchased.
The new Church is a fine building in excellent condition, comprising a beautiful main Church, large hall, office, classroom, private grounds, and more. It will accommodate the growing congregation and support the various activities of the Community.
In attendance were Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, along with many members of the faithful who came to witness this significant event. Glory to God for this blessing, which is nothing short of a miracle! His Grace Bishop Raphael of Ilion and the Community in Edinburgh are deeply grateful to the Archbishop, who provided most of the funds needed to acquire a building fitting for the role and importance of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Archdiocese in the Scottish capital.
The Community now looks forward to the Church’s consecration by the Archbishop in due course.
