Patriarchal Auxiliary Bishop Varlaam of Ploiești, Secretary of the Holy Synod, greeted Mr. Dalibor Đurović, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Montenegro in Bucharest, at the Patriarchal Palace on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
Accompanying Mr. Đurović was Ms. Diandra Iluțan Podăreanu, head of the Ambassador’s office at the Montenegrin Embassy in Bucharest.
Bishop Varlaam of Ploiești warmly welcomed the Montenegrin delegation and conveyed Patriarch Daniel’s blessings. He also highlighted the strong collaborative relationship between Romania and Montenegro.
In response, Mr. Đurović expressed gratitude for the warm reception at the Romanian Patriarchate and emphasized Romania’s support for Montenegro’s EU membership aspirations.
Bishop Varlaam mentioned the annual pilgrimages of Orthodox Christians from the Balkans, including Montenegro, to Iași for the feast day of Saint Paraskeva, symbolizing Orthodox unity in Eastern Europe.
Bishop Varlaam assured Mr. Đurović of the ongoing support from the Romanian Patriarchate and wished him success in his diplomatic role in Romania at the end of the meeting.
The Montenegrin delegation later toured the significant chambers of the Patriarchal Palace after the discussions.
