Metropolitan Ioannis of Zambia was honored with the Benevolence Award on Wednesday, May 29, in a ceremony attended by members of parliament, former ministers, judges, prominent figures from the world of literature and the arts, and friends of the Kyriasis Foundation. The event took place at the packed amphitheater of the Goethe Institute.
The award was accepted on behalf of Metropolitan Ioannis by the legal representative of the Metropolis, Panagiotis Gkouskos.
In addition to honoring Metropolitan Ioannis, all friends and supporters who have contributed to his missionary and humanitarian work over the past 30 years were also recognized during the event.
The ceremony was organized by journalist Giorgos Dionysopoulos, who highlighted the Metropolitan’s work, as well as by Member of Parliament for Achaia, Andreas Panagiotopoulos, who praised Metropolitan Ioannis’ efforts to restore the historic “Athenian” building in the Metropolis of Mozambique and to promote the Greek community of Vlahakides in Zambia.
A special thanks was extended to all attendees, with a particular mention of the Kyriasis Foundation.
