The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada congratulated Premier Doug Ford on his “historic win” in the Ontario general election. The statement highlighted that, at a “pivotal moment in our country’s history,” Premier Ford has proven to be an “unwavering defender of Canada, its history, and sovereignty.”
The Archdiocese also commended all candidates who participated in the election, recognizing their “selfless” contribution to the democratic process.
It emphasized that public service is a “truly praiseworthy act,” aligning with the Gospel’s message, quoting Christ’s words: “Whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant” (Mt 20:26), and St. Paul’s teaching: “Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others” (Php 2:4).
The statement concluded with prayers for all elected officials, hoping that “with love, peace, and prudence, they may together guide Ontario to growth, good health, and prosperity for all.”
